Warner Bros. though known for a varied list of Hollywood feature films that they have produced are also known for some of the best animated films as well. There are a few that may have sunk where the Box Office may be concerned but the Studio has produced also some of the best loved animated films of all times.
‘Batman: Mask of the Phantasm’ was the first animated feature length film that the Warner Bros. Studio produced. Inspired by their own television animated series called Batman, this film failed to earn as much as they probably hope it would in the box Office. It seemed then that people still enjoyed going for the live-action Batman films in the theater rather than watching an animated flick. However it can surely be said that it definitely one of the best superhero animated films ever made.
‘Space Jam’ was bound to be a success. If you have Bugs Bunny on one side and Michael Jordon on the other in a full length feature film about baseball, the film is sure to be a hit in America. This led to one of the first animation successes for Warner Bros. the film blends live action together with animation and the effect that this creates is fantastic and has created one of the most memorable animated flicks of all times.
‘Cats don’t dance’ is fun. That is what the film is all about and although it wasn’t as big a hit as some other great animated flicks, this film is all about a good weekend afternoon spent with the family. The film tended to betray its incompetence as compared with some of Disney’s best but the film with not much pretension. It does not even have a start studded cast lending their voice or a stunning sound track but is surely a feel-good film about cats.
‘Quest for Camelot’ was another attempt by Warner bros. to give Disney and the likes of animation studios a run for their money could do nothing much more than cause a few coughs. Although the film might sound greatly based on the Arthurian legends, there is hardly a lot of textual similarities. Also, anybody who has watched Loony Tunes ever could plainly see the similarities that the same Production House could produce in their animation. The creativity may not be startling where the script or the story is concerned but the film again is sweet and funny in places and you could not hate it.
‘The Iron Giant’ is one of the stones that every good company must stumble upon and so does Warner bros. Animation Studios do the same with this repeated failed attempt of a great blockbuster animation film. However, it wasn’t as much of a failure as this might sound but whatever success the story about a steel eating robot has gained is because of the well composed script from which lot of lessons of life and friendship can actually be learnt. The film is however surely not up to the mark.
‘Osmosis Jones’ is another one of those animated films with a great star cast but which failed to hit the mark where the box office was concerned. The storyline of the film is rather intriguing; about a city inside the body of a human being, a city of cells with a white blood cell eating cop. More than the achievement that a script with such a storyline could have achieved, the backdrop and the animation itself has achieved a lot of praiseworthy success and eth film therefore cannot be termed an entire failure therefore.
‘Loony Tunes: Back in action’ is the comeback animated flick that Warner Bros. tried gaining some brownie points with after a string of not so much success with their animated films, Warner Bros tried bringing Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck back to a film filled with action and adventure, the film achieved a fair amount of response as any Loony Tune film ever would because of the sentiment that is attached to this cartoon. However, there was nothing extraordinary about the storyline or the execution of the animation, and nothing was really different from all other Loony Tune shorts that we have all seen.
‘The Bugs Bunny and Road Runner Movie’ this was a compilation film released by Warner Bros. and was originally titled ‘The Great American chase’. There are some of the best cartoon shorts and animations that bridge all these together to produce a compilation film that keeps the chase between the favourite Loony Tune characters alive. There are about eleven cartoon shorts that were the original Loony Tune to be complied together to produce this delightful Loony Tune full length compilation that will surely not fail to entertain.
‘Bugs Bunny’s 3rd Movie’ is as the title suggests Bugs Bunny’s third movie that was created by Warner Bros. the full title of the film is ‘Bugs Bunny’s third movie:1001 Rabbit tales’. Complied out of a series of the best Bugs Bunny shorts of the 1930’s and late 50’s you have the best of wit and sense of humor and the best comic timing in cartoon perhaps. All these compiled together to produce a longish feature film length cinema is surely a treat and Warner Bros. does achieve all the success that Loony Tune always can with this film as well. This compilation is a perfect family film.
‘Daffy Duck’s Fantastic Island’ is again one of the bets successes of a Warner bros. compilation. Here too they compile some of the best cartoon shorts in Loony Tune history along with a series of animated bridges to join the shorts together with the hosts of the film being Speedy and Daffy Duck. The film is actually made in parody of a popular television series of that time, during the 1970’s called the Fantasy Island and this seemingly kiddy flick is in complete parody of that television series. This compilation film is pure fun and entertainment is all about what Loony Tunes originally was.
