Warner Brother's Animation Company

Warner Bros. is a name that has become synonymous with film making the world over and consequently, their venture into the animation department led to the creation of Warner Bros. Animation. If you are familiar with your cartoons you will remember the Looney Tunes or the Merry melodies and these are the original early 1930’s short cartoon films, so the producers of those which was Warner Bros. cartoons is the predecessor to this Animation Studio, which is now much more technically advanced and organized than before. So it has been seen 1990 that Warner Bros. Animation has been in full function, but the production of Looney Tunes and television cartoon series, their major inspiration over the years has been Time Warner’s DC Comics and their related publications.

The first original series of animated productions which was of course for the television of Warner Bros. ran between 1990 and 1995 and this was the Tiny Toon Adventures; this again not surprisingly was also based on cartoon characters that were inspired by the Loony Tune characters and this series again was an instant success. Pinky and the Brain and Freakazoid were the cartoon series that carried on the tradition of simple story telling through humor for children that was a big characteristic feature of the Loony Tunes. At this point in time, Warner Bros. Animation was concentrating mainly on animation series for television. They even made popular several television animated series that were based completely on comic books, these series included: Batman, Superman, Justice League and the likes.

It was around 1997 that Warner Bros. Animation decided to take up animation for feature films as Disney hit jackpot with its major hit The Lion King. However, it was maybe because of all the competition Warner Bros. started to face because of all the major production houses taking up animation flicks that Warner Bros. began by failing miserably at the Box Office. Their first animation filmic attempt was with Space Jam which was released in 1996 and this one met with instant success, weather it was because of Michael Jordan or Bugs bunny we might not know, but the success of the film was great.  However, after its initial success with such animated films such as Space Jam, Warner Bros. Animation began to take a back seat in eth animation film scene with such Box Office failures such as Osmosis Jones, the Iron Giant etc. their last attempt was a formula they thought would not fail them, the film they finally made was Loony Tunes: Back in Action, and this one did hardly as well as they had hoped to do and after its failure, the Warner Bros. Animations studio especially the wing that dealt with feature animated films has been temporarily shut down.
There are still some cartoon shorts that are aired on television that have been inspired by the original Loony Tunes series, those such as Baby Loony Tunes and Loonatics Unleashed that are still produced by Warner Bros.
