Monsters vs. Aliens Movie Review

Monsters vs. Aliens is a 2009 computer animated 3-D film produced by Dream Works Animation and Paramount Pictures. It is the first computer animated movie produced directly in a stereoscopic 3-D format which made an additional profit of $ 15 million. The film was released on March 27, 2009.

According to the story, on the day of her wedding, Susan Murphy is hit by a meteorite and absorbs a substance called quantonium which turns her into a giantess. She is labeled a monster by the government, captured by the military and sent to a top secret prison facility. She feels very uncomfortable there and longs to head back home.

The quantonium radiation is detected by an alien who sends robots to search for the source. The robot begins destroying everything hence the monsters are requested to fight against the robot on a promise of freedom. Once free, Susan returns home with the monsters in tow, which are rejected by the neighborhood. She breaks up with her fiancé and accepts her new life of monster. She is abducted by the alien for the source and the quantonium is extracted from her, giving back her normal size.

However, her friends get trapped and in an attempt to save them, she reabsorbs the quantonium and grows gigantic and saves her friends. They return to a hero’s welcome and march off to evade another danger.

The film has had an overall approval rating of 72% and an average score of 6.4/10 from critics and a rating of 56% by the newspapers, websites and television. On Metacritic, the film received a score of 56 out of 100 top reviews. It is the third highest grossing animated film of 2009 with a huge total of $379,882,019.
