Pixar was founded as the Graphics Group in1979 and the animation studios are based in California, United States. The studio has received twenty two Academy Awards, four Golden Globes and three Grammys ever since it has been launched. It has greatly been critically acclaimed and is best known for its CGI animation. Pixar was bought by The Walt Disney Company in 2006. All six films released by Pixar since 2001 have been nominated for Academy Award for Best Animated Feature Film with four winning it.
Pixar Animation Studios have rendered many successful projects and some of their upcoming projects include Toy Story 3, cars 2, The Bear and the Bow and Newt.
Toy Story 3- This is an upcoming computer-animated 3-D film and is scheduled for a June 18, 2010 release, in the United States. It is the third in the Toy Story series. The movie is being directed by Lee Unkrich and the characters of Woody and Buzz have been voiced by Tom Hanks and Tim Allen respectively.
Andy’s toys are headed towards the attic since he has to depart for college. However, they get accidentally thrown and are gathered by the garbage men. The toys land in the mayhem of pre-school children of a local day-care centre and struggle for survival. Woody plans an escape but Buzz is damaged during the attempt and Buzz relapses to a Spanish version of his illusions of a space ranger in all this.
Cars 2- This is a computer-animated 3-D film slated to release on June 24, 2011 and is a sequel to the film Cars (2006). The movie is being directed by Brad Lewis who produced Ratatouille.
The plot of the film involves around the world travel by Lightning McQueen and the new pit boss Mater. The journey is for the “Race of Champions” occurring in five different countries. Mater finds himself involved in a case of mistaken identity where he saves a British secret agent only to get enmeshed in his spy world.
The Bear and the Bow- This upcoming computer animated 3-D film directed by Brenda Chapman is scheduled for a release on Dec 25, 2011.
The film is set in a mythic Scotland. The tangle-haired Merida from the royal family wants to leave her mark as a great archer. This leads to a clash of wills where her mother compels Merida into an unintended decision which proves hazardous to her mother’s life and her father’s kingdom. The story is of the great struggle of Merida against magic and an ancient curse, in order to set the situation right.
Newt- Newt is a computer animated 3-D film with plans of a June 21, 2012 release, under the direction of Gary Rydstorm.
Newt and Brooke are the last of blue-footed newts on the planet and are forced to mate to save their species although they aren’t interested in each other. Living in a community college biology lab, Newt comes as smart and pampered while Brooke as streetwise. The story is about a bad first date.
