Pixar Animation Studios is without doubt the leaders of animated films in the world at the moment. They have had success after success and they are quite unstoppable as far as creating heartwarming films with memorable characters and great animations are concerned.
Toy Story was the first of the great animated films that Pixar started churning out and ever since its super block-buster status there has been no looking back for the company itself. The story as any other Pixar story is rather simple, children’s toys come to life when no human is looking, but the witty dialogues and the one-of-a-kind dialogues transform this hour and a half into one of the funnest adventure films you will ever see.
A Bug’s Life is another great Pixar film for the whole family. The story about a pea-brained ant whose comic attempts to gain the approval of all those in his colony and to win the life of the ant-princess Atta is a funny sensitive story about the age-old underdog. Although in comparison to the mega successes of Toy Story and its sequel it may not have reached those heights of success A Bug’s life is funny and well-made enough for a repeat viewing. Besides, it has Kevin Spacey to add to all the fun.
Toy Story 2 followed a few years later with some of the finest super stars in Hollywood such as Tom Hanks giving voice over for this equally fun animated flick. This too has the same feel of the cute-adventure story that the first one could boast about and also won itself a Golden Globe and thankfully is not one of those Hollywood sequels that just fail to deliver. Toy Story2 does more than just deliver, the animation quality is better than surely than the first and the story would fail to touch you only if you were made of stone.
Monsters, Inc. in 2001 was again an instant success as the whole idea that children ever associated with monsters was turned around with yet another funny yet touching animated tale. The story about monsters in their town Monstropolis working for the scream collecting factory Monsters, Inc. is perhaps one of the most original ideas that the genius of Pixar have come up with. The animation with attention given to ever little detail of the film does not fail to impress and the funny dialogues are intelligent and can sure give you a good laugh.
Finding Nemo, could easily be one of the best in the line of Pixar films taking into considering the company does not churn out yet another brilliant hit in the years to come. Seen through the eyes of sea creatures is this tale about a father and a son, both fish, but with a story that is as human as it can be. Keeping their mentors Disney in mind, like all Pixar films, the comic keynote of the film has very much a serious undertone and lessons to be learnt. The story is rather old but it is a feast for children and adults alike and Pixar yet again doesn’t fail to impress.
The Incredibles could perhaps be the first of the Pixar films that dealt strictly with human beings. From bugs to toys and fish Pixar dealt and caricatured them all except us humans and The Incredibles can perhaps be the start of a happy beginning. The animation in this film is truly a marvel. The skin fitting costumes and the very bristle of hair on every head is marvelously human and you might tend to forget that you are actually watching animation rather than real human characters. The story is charming and all about loving one’s family and is a happy successor to the long line of Pixar films.
With Cars in 2006, Pixar does it again. With the inspirational to the downright rolling-on-the-floor funny; the film has it all. The film is perhaps fame and using it the wrong way and about all the little things in life that matter. Lightning McQueen is the rookie champion of the great Piston Cup championship in Car World and while on a spree ruins the coveted town road of an off-way small town Radiator Springs. HE is sentenced to repair the road and through his stay there discovers the joys of leading a life that he had never experienced when he lived on the fast track. As compared to the company’s previous achievements this film could have done better.
Ratatouille is one of those rare Pixar films where equal importance has been given to the humans as well as the other creatures in the film. This is another success in the bag of Pixar’s beautiful story telling phenomenon. The story about a rat assisting a cook in a restaurant is again one of those greatly original ideas that Pixar is so famous for. The animation also is perhaps the best that Pixar has achieved finding a perfect balance between artificiality in caricature and realism.
Wall E could very easily be one of the sweetest love stories that you have seen in a long time, and Pixar achieves all that in outer space. The film has already been termed as a science-fiction classic and very rightly so. With a cute robot as its central protagonist in love with an I-pod looking creature who has a cockroach as a best friend the film is an unexpectedly touching children’s film. The best part about the film is that more than half of it has no dialogue at all.
Up, the latest in the long line success of Pixar’s success also has an unexpectedly whacky story and the most touching scenes that Pixar has yet to have created. The story is of a middle aged fat man who ties helium balloons around his home after he loses his wife and fears that he might lose his house as well. On a journey to South America accompanied by only a kid, this touching film might just change your life. The animation has been done beautifully and the film wants in nothing.
