
DreamWorks Animation SKG was formed and founded by a trio of entertainment players, director and producer Steven Spielberg, music executive David Geffen and former Disney executive Jeffrey Katzenberg on October 12, 1994. Dream Works Animation owns two studios in California; the original DreamWorks feature animation studio and the PDI studio.
Having been a successful production company, Dream Works Animation has announced nine upcoming computer Animated Films. The list includes some of the films like: How to Train Your Dragon, Shrek Forever After, Oobermind, Kung Fu Panda 2: The Kaboom of Doom, Puss in Boots: Story of an Ogre Killer, Madagascar 3, The Guardians, Shrek 5 and The Croods.
How to Train Your Dragon- The film is an upcoming computer animated film based on the book by the same name. The film is being directed by Chris Sanders and Dean De Blois and has planned for a release on March 26, 2010.
The plot is set in a mythical world of vikings and dragons. The story is about Hiccup, a Viking teenager, living on the island of Berk where fighting dragons is a way of life. He is the chief’s son and is disliked by his tribe for his smartness. He finds the chance to prove his mettle when included in dragon training with other Viking teens. However, everything changes when he encounters an injured dragon and befriends him.
Shrek Forever After- It is an animated film which will hit the theatres on May 21, 2010. Fourth in the Shrek series, it is being directed by Mike Mitchell and will be based on fairy tale themes.
Instead of scaring the villagers, Shrek has become a family man. Longing for the days when he was a real ogre, he gets tricked into signing a pact with a dealmaker named Rumpelstiltskin. Shrek gets trapped in an alternate version where ogres are hunted. The story is about the struggle of Shrek to undo the damage and restore his world of friends and family and reclaim his one true love.
Oobermind- This is an upcoming animated comedy film. The film is being directed by Tom McGrath and will be released on Nov 5, 2010.
After defeating his archrival metro Man, the super villain Oobermind should be elated. But he falls into a total despair since he considers a life without a rival useless. To resolve this, he creates a new super hero, Titan. Unfortunately, the new hero intends to be a super villain himself and creates problems. So Oobermind sets out to stop his rampage and restore peace.
Kung Fu Panda 2: The Kaboom of Doom- It is an upcoming 3-D animated film and is a sequel to Kung Fu Panda. Directed by Jennifer Yuh Nelson, the film is getting released on June 3, 2011.
The story introduces a new villain with a peculiar weapon powerful enough to threaten the very existence of Kung Fu. Po should also confront his past apart from the furious five, especially the tigress, with master Shifu.
Puss in Boots: Story of an Ogre Killer- This upcoming project is being directed by Chris Miller and will be released on Nov 4, 2011.
It is a prequel to Shrek 2 which imagines events before the character’s appearance in the proceedings of Shrek 2. There is an introduction of new characters as well.
Madagascar 3- This movie is scheduled a release on May 25, 2012.
The lion, Zebra, Hippo and the Giraffe are fighting to get home. They are accompanied by others for the adventure as well. The road takes them through Europe and they locate a travelling circus there, the Madagascar Style.
The Guardians of Childhood- It is an upcoming animated comedy film due for a release on Nov 2, 2012.
The story stars five heroes from childhood stories who come together to fight against Pitch and stop him from sending the world into “eternal darkness”.
Shrek 5- This upcoming project by Dream Works is slated a tentative release in 2013.
The Croods- This is expected to release on March 30, 2012.
